This album shows the arrangements of Muktad Tables with Vases and Flowers in Chicago (August 2006) and Vancouver (August 2007) and Muktad Prayers in San Jose (August 2008). Chicago has very beautiful Marble tables; whereas Vancouver has regular tables with table cloths on them. In absence of an Agiyari, the Muktad Prayers with Tables can be arranged in a private home. The vases can be metal "Karasyaas" as in Mumbai or crystal vases. All families are encouraged to give vase(s) to be placed on tables in memory of their departed dear ones. The vases are first washed, tables arranged, and the vases are placed in some order determined by the person in charge. The vases then are placed with some water in them and flowers are placed inside. The flowers may need to be replenished every 2-3 days. Each attendee may be encouraged to bring some flowers to place in the vases each day. Each day, Jashan prayers are recited with names of the departed given to the Mobed by the person in charge. Each name is recited separately during the Jashan. $5 to $20 per name is charged for the prayers, flowers, etc. and donated to the general fund. Each day, a Satum prayer is recited after the Jashan with a sample of the lunch/dinner placed in the prayer. Lunch/dinner may be arranged by the committee appointed for the attendees at a nominal charge.
