My cell phone rings while I am driving with Jo Ann at 6 AM in April 2005, on my way to the Tampa Airport to go to Washington D.C. to collect my US Passport with Iran Visa stamped on it by the Iranian Government office in Pakistan Embassy. Jo Ann answered the phone and it was Khojeste Mistree from Mumbai, the Iran Tour operator, with whom I was supposed to tour Iran with my brother, Ervad Palanji Dastoor, my first cousin, Ervad Naval Dastoor, and other friends. He informed me that the Iran officials once again refused the visa today and it may be ready tomorrow. My dejection cannot be described or put in words! After years of wanting to go and finally after months of preparations, reading, researching about our Maadar-e-Vatan Iran, and daily calling Khojeste and his helper in Tehran, Fareydoon, and volunteering to go to Washington D.C. just to collect the US Passport with the Iran Visa so I can fly to Tehran next day, and ignoring all the negative comments by many friends and family about going to a country who may be at war with US or vice versa, something clicked in my mind as I was exiting from I-75 to return home that this is NOT WORTH IT! I reluctantly decided then and then that if Iran Government does not want me then I do not need them and I am not going. So my wish to visit Maadar-e-Vatan Iran was shelved one more time and I stayed home! Then in March 2006, at the NAMC Conference in Montreal, I met Ervad Khushroo and his wife Minnie Mirza. They were gushing about their Iran Tour with Silloo Mehta from LA and how wonderful a job she does for everything about the tour. They really impressed me and gave the contacts for Silloo. Well, I kind of waver about this due to my dejection last year and did not do much until July 2006. I contacted Silloo for the Humata Hukhta Hvarshta Tele serial episodes she was interested in and then talked some more about her upcoming October Iran Tour and I decided to go and the rest is history! She instructed me about what to do about the visa, she and her contact in Iran got the famous "Number" for my visa and we arranged to send our passports to Washington D.C. to my good friend Ervad Behram Panthaky who personally went to the Iran office and got our visas stamped and returned them to me and I finally had my Iran visa and I was finally going to Iran, Maadar-e-Vatan Iran after a lifelong wish!
