2009 ZAF Pateti Celebration
2009 ZAF Pateti Celebration - A Historical Event! What a gorgeous sight to see all three Florida Zoroastrian Groups, ZATAMBAY from Tampa, Central Florida Group from Orlando and ZAF from Miami, Boca Raton and Ft. Lauderdale, coming together to celebrate the Shehenshahi Navroz Mubarak on August 29th at the Sawgrass Conference Center in Plantation! Hovi Shroff in charge, with great help from Jahan and other ZAF Board Members, put together a wonderful program enjoyed by all. The festivities started with the registration at the front with ever smiling Freny Deboo and Jo Ann Dastur greeting the people from all over Florida and presenting a beautiful red rose to each lady. The get together hour with drinks and apprtizers were enjoyed by all acquainting one another with 140+ total attendees, a record for ZAF! The program started with Aban Kavasmaneck with her Z Club Children praying in Hum Bandagi with all present 2 Yathas and One Ashem.Then, "Aapro" Jahan, The ZAF President, welcomed all and recognized 4 graduates from ZAF with a ZAF donation to them. He then recognized Aban Kavasmaneck for her untiring years of service with the Z Club, Burjorji Tata for his untiring work to put together www.lagan.org Parsi Natak, and Jo Ann and Ervad Soli P. Dastur for arranging and conducting the first ever Muktad Prayers in ZAF! And our Secretary Kersi Munshi recognizing Jahan for his untiring work for ZAF in many areas! This was followed by the world famous ZAF Singers singing "Khushi Khushaali no Aaje Mehmaar Chhe" to a rousing applause! This was followed by our "mystery" magician a-la-stupendous, Sarosh Mistri, his lovely wife and helper Kim presenting a wonderful magic show enjoyed by young and old! The final highlight of the program was the Parsi Natak, designed, directed and acted by Burjorji Tata and his able bodied ZAF actresses and actors: Burjorji Tata, Arnavaz Irani, Freny Deboo, Gulshan Kavasmaneck, Jimmy Major, Khushroo Daruwalla, Pauli Bhadha and the last but not the least, "Aapro" Jahan Daruwalla! The Natak received a standing ovation from the audience! This was followed by a sumptuous Indian Buffet including Fish Goa, Rogan Josh, Chicken Makhani, Aloo Gobhi, Surti Dal, Veg Pulav, Naan, Salad, Papadum and Chutney. After that, Hovi conducted a Community Dance with the famous Jai Ho music enjoyed and participated by all! Finally, the Dessert of Kulfi and Falooda followed with Dance Music till the end! A great and glorious Florida Navroz Celebration!
